AEG Forges Strategic Partnership with Caojing Integrated Energy Center to Support Phase II Energy Transition

Jul 08, 2025

Recently, AEG Industrial Systems (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. ("AEG") officially signed a cooperation agreement with State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) for the Phase II project of Shanghai Power Caojing Integrated Energy Center. As the core equipment supplier for the project, AEG will provide its SecoGear P/V-12 AC metal-enclosed switchgear. The signing of this strategic partnership highlights AEG’s technological expertise in high-end power distribution equipment, which has gained strong industry recognition. The two parties will deepen collaboration in the smart energy sector, jointly advancing the development of integrated energy systems in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Project Positioning: National-level integrated energy demonstration project
The Shanghai Power Caojing Integrated Energy Center Phase II is a flagship energy innovation demonstration project under Shanghai's 14th Five-Year Plan. Located in Caojing Town, Jinshan District, Shanghai, the project spans 31 hectares and integrates a multi-energy coordination system including gas-fired power generation, photovoltaic energy storage, and hydrogen-based peak shaving.Adopting the construction concept of a digital power plant, the project has established a smart power plant framework to create a world-class demonstration station characterized by cleanliness, low-carbon operation, high efficiency, and intelligent management.

AEG is deeply involved in building the smart power distribution network for this energy center. The switchgear equipment provided by AEG will serve core power system protection and intelligent distribution functions. This initiative will significantly enhance the energy hub's power supply reliability and comprehensive energy efficiency, further meeting the demands of high-quality energy transition.
Technology Empowerment: Innovative Breakthroughs of SecoGear P/V-12
The SecoGear P/V-12 represents a compact air-insulated switchgear solution that combines AEG's century-long German power technology heritage with localized Chinese innovations. It sets industry benchmarks in safety, reliability, performance and sustainability, featuring five key technical advantages:

1.Indoor AC metal-enclosed switchgear suitable for various substations and distribution stations
2.Equipped with next-generation solid-insulated SecoVac VB2 Plus vacuum circuit breaker
3.Spacious cable compartment designed for easy cable termination
4.Internal arc fault withstand capability meeting AFLR class (up to 50kA/1s)
5.Comprehensive interlock system to prevent misoperation and enhance safety
Increasing international regulations focusing on the use of SF6 and other greenhouse gases as well as related disposal costs have made vacuum technology the optimal choice for the future due to its reliability, low maintenance costs and minimal environmental impact. The SecoGear P/V-12 AC metal-enclosed switchgear combines vacuum technology with air and epoxy resin insulation, providing users with:
1. Minimal number of components and lowest energy loss during operation
2. No special requirements for switchgear disposal at end of lifecycle
3. No need for SF6 gas in switching and insulation medium
4. Elimination of risks from SF6 gas or toxic byproduct leakage
5. Eco-friendly design using reusable and recyclable materials
6. Energy-efficient production and assembly using green energy
Future Outlook: Collaborative Development with New Power Systems
The strategic partnership between AEG and State Power Investment Corporation marks the establishment of a profound collaborative relationship in the field of energy transition. The cooperation on Shanghai Power Caojing Integrated Energy Center Phase II project demonstrates AEG's mission to advance the future of energy through technological innovation. Leveraging its high-end product lines including the SecoGear series, AEG will contribute to the construction of new power systems while providing China's practical case for global energy transformation. In this new era of deepening energy revolution, AEG will continue to drive power equipment upgrades through technological innovation, establishing benchmark practices for low-carbon transformation of urban energy systems.
